Call to Poles

Dear Poles,

This year passes a hundred years since barely reborn Poland was confronting existential danger. Soviet hordes had thrown themselves at our country to destroy, murder and run westward, carrying hellfire and red death. Due to heroic efforts of the Polish Armed Forces the Soviet invaders have been defeated.

Bewildering, even shocking is that there is no appropriate major monument befitting the triumph of 1920 in Poland or any place else.

Therefore we call all Poles in the country and abroad to support the project of building a great, awe-inspiring monument celebrating the Victory over the Bolshevik aggressors. Perhaps, as the first reaction some would like to say “it cannot be done” but the next, more thoughtful response many would say “but of course, what a splendid, colossal idea!”.

Our website intends to gather and inform Poles about the project as well as inform about concrete steps taken.

Now, concrete steps planned:

  • To organize collection of funds by Polonia and in Poland and spend them on obtaining best possible location for it, commission of 1×1 model of the sculpture, casting and finally – building a large pediment and placing the sculpture on it.

  • Organizers of this great undertaking made a decision that this true monument of victory should be an embodiment of inspired, visionary project created in 1921. The author was Stanisław Szukalski, perhaps the greatest sculptor of XX century.

  • One of the tasks of the Committee organizing the project should be explaining why Szukalski’s vision is Art of immortal quality and planned project in Warsaw is a Stump in puddle without any artistic value. Hostile forces want to remove polish art from Poland and replace it by anti-polish jests. We should fill our souls with pride of essential, eternal “Polishness”, perfectly incarnated by Szukalski’s Polish Centaur.
